George Borowsky, speaking for the Planning Board, summarized a proposal from HCPC to assist the town with ordinance updates required by two recent state laws. He said the work covers three main components: accommodating density bonuses, enabling bonus development units on undeveloped land, and adding accessory dwelling unit provisions.
Phil Roberts said HCPC has assisted other towns and the Planning Board unanimously approved the not-to-exceed $5,000 proposal. The Planning Board asked the Select Board to endorse the contract and to consider whether $5,000 in unexpended legal funds from the current fiscal year could be rolled over to cover the work or whether the Select Board could provide budgetary help; George noted the town may be eligible for reimbursement from the state DECD if HCPC serves as the consultant.
Mary Allen said she will check with Chris Nemeth about the possibility of rolling over unexpended legal funds. No Select Board endorsement or funding decision was recorded at this meeting; the board asked staff for follow-up information.
