Select Board reviews carrying-place beach outhauls, asks for mooring specifications

Mary Allen, chair of the Surry Select Board, reported that she inspected the outhauls at Carrying Place Beach and found none marked with owner contact information. She said she spoke with Steve Wessel, who notified one owner about a sizing issue and then labeled the outhauls with owner information.
Chris Stark said the Marine Resource Committee reviewed draft outhaul specifications developed last year, offered only minor suggestions, and recommended the town release the outhaul specification as written. The committee also recommended the town provide corresponding mooring specifications; Chris said Hamilton Marine is a likely source for those specs.
Emily Morrow said she would check Hamilton Marine’s website for standard mooring specifications to include with the town’s outhaul guidance. No formal motion to adopt specifications was recorded; the board directed staff to follow up so the specifications and any mooring guidance can be published.
