At its October meeting the Archuleta County School District board approved routine items and acted on personnel policy updates.
The board moved and approved the meeting agenda with a requested change to move the Master Plan update earlier in the order. Trustees then approved the minutes of the Sept. 10 regular meeting and a consent agenda that included claims, travel requests, new hires, substitutes, coaching assignments and online mentors.
Administration proposed repealing two older policies (listed as AC and GBA R) because their provisions are superseded by updated district policy; the board voted to repeal them. The board also approved revisions to four G‑series personnel policies (GBA, GBAA, GBK and GBK R) that align district language with state law and recent Title IX guidance and clarify notification and nondiscrimination provisions. Board members voted on the motions by roll call; each recorded vote was announced as affirmative by the five trustees present.
Motions recorded at the meeting (roll‑call votes indicated as recorded in the meeting):
- Approve agenda (motion carried; roll call: Iverson, Lynch, Mackie, Shik, Taylor — all yes). - Approve Sept. 10, 2024 minutes (motion carried; roll call: Iverson, Lynch, Mackie, Shik, Taylor — all yes). - Approve consent agenda as presented (motion carried; roll call: Iverson, Lynch, Mackie, Shik, Taylor — all yes). - Repeal policies AC and GBA R (motion carried; roll call: Iverson, Lynch, Mackie, Shik, Taylor — all yes). - Approve revisions to GBA, GBAA, GBK and GBK R (motion carried; roll call: Iverson, Lynch, Mackie, Shik, Taylor — all yes).
The board did not take further substantive formal action this meeting on capital projects or allocation of Forest Service funds; those items will return for later decisions.
