Council backs staff recommendation to renew refuse contract with Local Waste after two bids
Summary

Village Administrator Haley Lupton told council that two bids were received in response to the refuse and recycling RFP: the incumbent Local Waste and Rumpke. Staff provided a comparison and references for both firms and recommended continuing the contract with Local Waste because the bids were similar and retaining the current Thursday service day was preferred by council.
Lupton said Rumpke's proposal would move collection to Tuesday and that Rumpke's combined price, including recycling, was slightly higher than Local Waste's. Councilmembers expressed support for keeping the current provider, the current service day and including recycling in the monthly rate. Lupton said the proposed contract would be for three years with an option to extend and that staff will proceed with contracting based on the council's direction.
The council did not take a formal roll-call vote on a contract award in the minutes; the transcript records council support for staff's recommendation and indicates staff will move forward with the recommended provider.
