Resident urges Surry to consider houseboat ordinance after Ellsworth protections

Sokol said the ordinance already "protects the Ellsworth side of Patten Pond" and expressed concern that, if Ellsworth restricts houseboats, boaters might seek mooring or residence in Surry waters. She urged the Select Board to consider a similar approach to prevent houseboat activity that residents find undesirable.
The board agreed to add the issue to its next planning meeting agenda and said it could forward the matter to the Planning Board for review and potential ordinance drafting. No formal vote or ordinance language was proposed at the Sept. 17 session.
