Police hiring grant denied; village to consider hiring grant writer

Director of Public Safety Chris Pavini informed the Village of Stone Park committee on June 24 that a recent grant application to fund hiring three police officers was denied.
Pavini said Commander Sarabia suggested the village consider hiring a professional grant writer to increase the success rate of future applications. He referenced a proposal from Administrative Consulting Specialists, LLC (Option 3) with an estimated cost of about $10,000, which is not included in the current fiscal-year budget. Pavini also noted that several surrounding municipalities use that company and had successfully secured funding.
Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla asked whether the grants being pursued were federal and whether they would require a municipal match; whether the $10,000 vendor fee would expect a local match was also raised. The Board took the matter under advisement and agreed to revisit the proposal at the next scheduled meeting on July 22, 2025. Pavini said he will provide the Board with a list of local municipalities currently using the service for the July meeting.
