Village staff report street and utility repairs; trustees announce clean-up day and Memorial Day parade

Ramirez said topsoil and grass seed were applied to parkways, the sewer near Scores was cleared, a broken water main on the 1500 block of 43rd Avenue was repaired, seasonal flowers were planted along Mannheim Road and by Shepherd Learning Academy, weed cleanup in alleys and on street corners had begun, two sections on the 1600 block of 39th Avenue were repaved, and potholes were filled throughout the village.
Trustee Loretta J. Teets reminded the board and the public that Annual Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 17. The village will provide two dumpsters: one at 44th Avenue & Division Street and another at 33rd Avenue & Lemoyne Avenue. Ramirez noted Public Works will handle incoming calls for large-item pickup appointments. Teets also announced the Memorial Day Parade set for May 26 and said Proviso West ROTC and the Proviso West Band have confirmed attendance; parade signage has been posted and resident notifications sent.
