Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips reported that the sinkhole involved degradation of a 24" clay tile; engineers recommended lining pipes in sections, replacing the 24" tile in the sinkhole area, reconnecting pipes, installing a larger catch basin adjacent to the sinkhole and replacing approximately 10 feet of pipe. Two written estimates were presented: Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450. Both bids required the borough to provide a truck during the project.
Councilor Steadman moved to accept Mansfield's proposal and Councilor Osborn seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The council did not specify a start date, but notes that borough resources (a truck) will be required during the work.
The council also instructed the solicitor and engineers to proceed with necessary contractual arrangements; no further funding sources or bonding were mentioned during the discussion.
