Tri‑Valley Board approves FY21 appropriations, personnel contracts, grants and service agreements

The Tri‑Valley Board of Education on Sept. 10 adopted its regular meeting agenda and approved a series of budget, personnel and service items for the 2020–21 school year.
In roll call at the start of the meeting the board recorded all five members present: Eddie Brock, Susie Cameron, Scott Ford, Martha Prince and Scott Welker. The board adopted the agenda (Resolution #20‑245) and approved minutes from the Aug. 13 regular meeting (Res. #20‑246) and the July 2020 financial report (Res. #20‑247).
The board approved FY21 appropriations at the fund level (Res. #20‑248).
Under personnel business, the board recorded an internal transfer (Shane Boal from middle‑school to high‑school science) and approved multiple certified and classified contracts. Among certified hires, the board issued a one‑year limited contract to Jody Bowen as a middle‑school science instructor (Res. #20‑249) and to Whitney Clagg as a high‑school vocational instructor (Res. #20‑250), each contingent on license and background verification. The board accepted resignations from April Pletcher (special‑education assistant, middle school) and Mary Wilson (bus driver) (Res. #20‑251) and approved classified contracts including Sydney Every (educational aide), Amber Barthen (special‑education assistant), Mackenzie Spellman (special‑education assistant) and Steve Wollard (bus driver) (Res. #20‑252 through #20‑255). A one‑year, part‑time assistant‑cook contract for Jessica Mitchell was approved to begin Sept. 14, 2020 (Res. #20‑256).
The board granted unpaid leave requests for Darla Stewart (Aug. 26, 2020–Jan. 4, 2021) and a five‑day leave for Mandy Wagner (Sept. 2–9, 2020) (Res. #20‑257 and #20‑258).
Athletics and extracurricular approvals included amended approval of winter‑season head coaches (Res. #20‑259) and appointment of volunteer gymnastics head coach Jen Martin (Res. #20‑260). The amended coaching resolution recorded one abstention from Eddie Brock; the remainder of votes were recorded as yes. The board also approved Lori McLoughlin and Ashley LoVallo as high‑school student council co‑advisors (Res. #20‑261).
Administrative items approved included professional leave requests (Res. #20‑262), a Transition Agreement with Muskingum County Head Start for 2020–21 (Res. #20‑263), and locally defined graduation seals presented by Tri‑Valley High School (Res. #20‑264). The board authorized submission of a BroadbandOhio Connectivity Grant application (Res. #20‑265) and approved a service agreement with Boundless Behavioral Health, Inc., effective Aug. 10, 2020 through the 2020–21 school year (Res. #20‑266).
The board approved payment of an Agriculture Education fifth‑quarter grant (Fund #461) to T.V.H.S. agricultural instructor Brian Merce in the amount of $3,108.80 for FY21 (Res. #20‑267), adopted FY21 student fees as presented (Res. #20‑268) and approved an agreement for live‑streaming services with Storied Rivals (Res. #20‑269).
An addendum item approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tri‑Valley Education Association (TVEA) (Res. #20‑270). The meeting was adjourned at 6:37 p.m. (Res. #20‑271).
