Chair Richard opened the Feb. 19 meeting of the Board of Assessors and the board moved to consider acceptance of minutes from the Jan. 20 meeting. One member said they had circulated edits by email three times and would not vote for the minutes in their current form, citing factual errors and a lack of response from other members.
Staff described the drafting workflow: a staff member reviews the meeting video, prepares a draft, and provides it to a typist identified in the discussion as Kelly Malone for final formatting. After discussion about timing and how to limit minutes to factual items rather than lengthy dialogue, the board made a motion to accept the minutes, the motion was seconded, and the vote carried 2–1.
The board agreed to try a faster circulation process for draft minutes, allowing members time to propose edits before final approval; if edits remain unresolved the board said it would table the item for the next meeting. Chair Richard noted the video is available for verification and the board will record a note to revisit the minutes if needed.
The board then moved on to agenda items including land-sales data and abatements.
