On reopening city building rentals, council members reviewed pros and cons. Members said rentals ended about 15 years ago over liability and financial concerns; supporters cited new security cameras and local interest. Mayor Nile Mathisen read examples of fee and deposit structures used by nearby cities. The council agreed to table the decision and include the item on the next meeting’s agenda for further consideration.
Council Member Ben Allred reported that Planning & Zoning approved a rezone for five acres intended for his subdivision. The council did not record a related conflict of interest during the meeting.
The council also approved the May 19 minutes and accepted the presented financial statements by unanimous vote. Mayor Mathisen announced a joint Water Board/City Council meeting scheduled for June 16 at 6:30 p.m. No executive session was held.
