Madison County School Board approves East Elementary traffic queuing and a package of consent items

The Madison County School Board voted to approve a package of consent items, including plans by A2 for the East Elementary traffic queuing project, multiple budget revisions and personnel actions, at its meeting.

The board approved out-of-state field trips, a general purpose school budget revision, a federal programs revision (item 142), an education capital budget revision (143), cafeteria budget revision (2627) and the district's annual board calendar and conferences. A board member noted the county budget committee had reviewed and recommended the budget revisions, and that the county commission will take up related budgets on the 25th.

The board also approved the May regular meeting minutes and the annual tenure list, recording 28 teachers granted tenure. A PreK volunteer grant (fund 142) was approved as part of the consent agenda.

During public comment, Miss Godwin—identifying herself as an East Side graduate—spoke in support of the East Elementary traffic improvements, saying a vehicle "went in a ditch" near the school and that parents arrive early for pick-up when traffic moves in both directions. "So, I'm happy that we're doing some work," she said, thanking the board for the project.

All consent items and motions on the consent agenda were approved by voice vote with no opposing votes recorded in the transcript. The board's approval moves several items forward to the county-level budget process, where county officials will review and possibly finalize funding during their meeting on the 25th.
