Salem Township PC to advertise November informational meeting on SALDO changes; special meeting set

At its Oct. 2, 2024 meeting, the Salem Township Planning Commission voted unanimously to advertise a special informational meeting in November to take public comment on proposed amendments to the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO).
Solicitor Gary Falatovich told the commission he would like to see two SALDO provisions revised promptly: a provision allowing the Township to charge solicitor and engineering fees and collect escrows from applicants, and clearer definitions distinguishing minor and major subdivisions, land developments and side-lot additions for properties without sewage facilities planning. Falatovich said revising those sections "as soon as possible" would help prevent future problems and ensure developers, as well as residents, are treated fairly.
Commissioners approved the motion to advertise the informational meeting (motion by Paul Holleran, seconded by John Durco) unanimously. Paul Holleran then moved and John Durco seconded to adjourn; the adjournment vote was unanimous. The commission set its next regular meeting for Nov. 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., if there is an agenda. The meeting concluded at 7:49 p.m.
Separately, at the start of the meeting the commission approved the minutes of its Sept. 4, 2024 meeting (motion by Paul Holleran, seconded by John Durco); Holleran and Connie Mattei voted for the minutes and John Durco abstained, and the motion passed by majority vote.
