Salem Township approves minutes, expenditures, resolutions and donations

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors approved routine administrative items and several donations and resolutions during its Oct. 16 meeting.
The board approved the Sept. 18 and Sept. 24, 2024 meeting minutes. It approved expenditures for October listing the General Fund ($45,574.71), Payroll Fund ($39,849.02), Fire Protection ($3,039.75), Sewage ($2,269.00), Liquid Fuels ($21,412.56), Street Light ($394.96), Special Projects ($720.00) and Machinery ($2,200.00) for a total of $115,460.
Supervisors approved a $1,000 donation to the Westmoreland County Food Bank. The board also approved a $35,000 donation request from Slickville Volunteer Fire Department to help purchase a generator to serve as a warming and cooling station during outages; Slickville had secured a $10,000 grant toward the generator. Supervisor Kerry Jobe noted the donation would complete a hazard-mitigation checklist and recalled a prior $60,000 township donation to Forbes Road VFD to help pay off a truck.
The board adopted Resolution No. 27-2024 amending fees for overweight vehicle permits pursuant to Ordinance No. 01-2024, and approved Resolution No. 28-2024 authorizing representatives to execute a first amendment to a multi-municipality DEP consent order and agreement. The board also authorized advertising a special meeting to hire for a Road Crew position and to approve Statewide LSA grant applications.
