Coryell County commissioners approve $1.9 million in bills, lease extension and infrastructure contracts

The Coryell County Commissioners' Court on May 29 approved a package of administrative actions, including payment of $1,906,690.78 in bills and several vendor and infrastructure agreements. The court convened at 9:03 a.m.; County Judge Roger Miller led the pledge.
The court approved the consent agenda, accepting March and April financial summary reports from the Treasurer, Tax Assessor and the County Judge's offices and approving minutes from April 8 (Historical Commission) and the May 12 commissioners' meeting. Commissioner Ryan Basham moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Keith Taylor seconded and the motion passed.
Among individual approvals, the court voted to: approve an Advanced Funding Agreement for bridge replacement on Bull Branch Road (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Ryan Basham); approve the Coleman Subdivision plat (motion by Commissioner Keith Taylor, second by Commissioner Kyle Matthews); authorize an agreement with Kings ill Emergency Communications for elevator telephone communications (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Ryan Basham); and approve an agreement with Brightspeed for internet services (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Keith Taylor).
The court also extended the county lease at 113 S. 7th Street in Gatesville until Sept. 17, 2026 (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Keith Taylor) and approved payment of $1,906,690.78 in bills (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Keith Taylor). The payment documentation was noted as attached in the meeting record.
In staff updates, Justin Latham, Road and Bridge administrator, provided the road-and-bridge report. The court reappointed Ray Ashby to a two-year term on the Board of Trustees for Central Counties Services (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Keith Taylor) and adopted Court Order CC26-04 declaring equipment and property surplus/salvage (motion by Commissioner Kyle Matthews, second by Commissioner Ryan Basham).
The court tabled several items, including a resolution supporting an in-kind match for off-system bridges and an Advanced Funding Agreement for Neff Park Road, and tabled consideration of a court order limiting court bailiff vehicle commuting use. No final action was taken on a proposed FY2026 budget amendment or a proposed order limiting sheriff take-home vehicles to in-county commuting only.
The court approved a Gatesville Chamber of Commerce request to use county properties for the Shivaree event (motion by Commissioner Keith Taylor, second by Commissioner Ryan Basham).
