The resolution — titled "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SALEM, COUNTY OF WESTMORELAND, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A CATEGORY 4 FACILITIES LOCAL SHARE ASSESSMENT GRANT THROUGH THE COMMONWEALTH FUNDING AGENCY FOR THE SEANOR PARK MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT PROJECT, DESIGNATING AN AGENT TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE TOWNSHIP IN ALL MATTERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE GRANT AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION AND SUBMISSION OF PRO FORMA DOCUMENTS IN FURTHERANCE OF SAME" — directs township staff to submit the Category 4 Facilities Local Share Assessment grant application and associated pro forma documents.
Supervisors reviewed vendor quotes for equipment and building options. The minutes note quotes were received for a 24x28 shed and a larger 40x40 shed, plus two mower models with different deck sizes. The board agreed to seek funding for the larger 40x40 shed and the larger mower, resulting in the $78,690.28 total request. The larger shed quote was listed at $64,780; supervisors said any award shortfall would need to be covered by township cash from Act 13 funds or other local sources.
Supervisor Ken Trumbetta moved to approve Resolution 26‑2024; Supervisor Kerry Jobe seconded. The vote was recorded as Supervisors Bob Zundel, Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voting in favor; the motion passed unanimously. The minutes identify Secretary Kelly Otto as the recordkeeper for the meeting.
At the close of the special meeting, Supervisor Kerry Jobe moved to adjourn; Supervisor Ken Trumbetta seconded. The board adjourned at 11:17 a.m. and set the next regular supervisors meeting for Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
