The Village of Arcanum council entered executive session at its Jan. 6 organizational meeting to discuss the appointment of an open council seat, then exited without making an appointment.
Council Member David Hartley moved to enter executive session “for the purpose of appointment of the Council seat,” a motion seconded by Council Member Eric VanHoose. The transcript records that all council members present voted yea and the council entered executive session at about 6:02 p.m.
After discussion, Hartley moved to exit executive session; Council Member Tammy Bruner seconded. The council exited the executive session at about 6:56 p.m. and the minutes record that no appointment was taken while in executive session.
The council did not report a public appointment during the organizational meeting. A special meeting was announced for Jan. 8, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.; the council may address outstanding organizational business, including the open seat, at that time.
