The Village of Arcanum council elected Council Member Jerry L. Boolman as council president pro‑tem during its organizational meeting on Jan. 6, 2026.
Council Member David Hartley moved to nominate Boolman for the interim leadership post, and Council Member Eric VanHoose seconded. Councilman Boolman abstained from the vote; the other council members — David Hartley, Ryan Burns, Eric VanHoose and Tammy Bruner — voted yea and the nomination passed. Hartley then moved to elect Boolman to the position; VanHoose seconded. Again Boolman abstained and the remaining members voted yea, approving the election. After the vote, Boolman accepted the Council President Pro‑Tem role.
The action came as part of the council’s organizational agenda. The body did not report other nominations during the meeting before closing nominations for that office.
A special council meeting was announced for Jan. 8, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. and was added to the council’s calendar.
