Greenburgh board schedules public hearings on 2026 budget, capital plan and planning-board law

The Greenburgh Town Board on Nov. 3 set three public hearings: two for Monday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the 2026 preliminary budget and the 2026 recommended capital budget with the 2027–2028 capital plan, and one for Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. to consider a local law amending chapter 605 of the town code related to planning-board composition and procedures.
A board member moved to schedule the public hearing on the preliminary budget (CL1), the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. A subsequent motion (CL2) to schedule a hearing on the recommended capital budget and three-year capital plan was also moved, seconded and approved. When the local-law hearing date (CL3) was discussed, board members asked whether the proposal reduced the number of planning-board members; the board clarified this draft adds an additional alternate member and does not reduce membership. "This is to add an additional alternate member. That's all it does," one board member said.
Town staff said paper copies of the preliminary budget are not yet complete; the document is available online and staff will provide printed copies to the board by Nov. 10. Each resolution to set the hearings was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The public hearings will give residents an opportunity to comment before the board proceeds with any final budget or local-law votes.
