Staff said the award would go to Diversified Education Systems (DES) through a cooperative VASSCUP contract for roughly $2,470,000, covering cabinetry, science-lab casework and other millwork. Mr. Thompson told the committee the amount is within the fourth high school project's budget and is an expenditure of already-approved funds rather than a new appropriation.
Mr. Shepherd reported a ceremonial groundbreaking at the fourth high school and said Dustin Construction was completing preconstruction tasks and ready to move earth on site. He also updated committee members on active work at Middletown (excavation and building pads) and Jordan Springs Phase 1 (brickwork complete and interior fit-out), with a target of Aug. 7 for the 12 additional classrooms at Jordan Springs Phase 1.
The committee voted by voice to forward the contract award recommendation to the full board for formal approval.
