District spotlights Project SEARCH partnership with Baptist Nassau

During the superintendent spotlight, Dr. Burns highlighted the district’s Project SEARCH program and its partnership with Baptist Nassau hospital.
Dr. Burns said three current students — Deanna, Renee and Jamia — completed eight-week rotations through dietary and environmental services at Baptist Nassau, received job-readiness training such as resumes and interviewing skills, and that one recent graduate has already secured employment at the hospital. The superintendent thanked teacher sponsors and Baptist Nassau CEO Tara Beth Anderson for the partnership and noted that some students from earlier cohorts remain employed there.
The board also showed slides listing colleges where graduating students will attend and noted more than 900 graduates districtwide this year.
The recognition emphasized community partnerships and transition-to-work services for students with disabilities; no formal action or budget item was taken at this portion of the meeting.
