Nassau board approves Yulee car-stacking project, MOU leave, Oak Hammock concurrency and calendar change

Superintendent Dr. Burns recommended awarding the Yulee Elementary car-stacking project to Scorpio Construction for an amount not to exceed $587,007 to help move drop-off traffic off Thelmore Road. The board moved, seconded and approved the item; members responded "Aye." No roll-call vote or detailed tally was spoken on the record.
The board also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Nassau Teachers Association and the Nassau County School District to grant a one-year leave of absence with pay for Elizabeth Nevis; the MOU states that the NTA will reimburse all salary and benefits associated with the leave, according to Dr. Burns.
The board approved concurrency for the Oak Hammock Development, clearing a district action required for the project's land-use and capacity determinations.
Members voted to provide a letter of support for Affordable Housing 1st Corp.; board members asked for copies available to sign before leaving. The board approved a calendar amendment to add a meeting on June 18 at 6 p.m.
A small donation to Yulee Middle School of $564 from Heiss Jones was added to the consent donations list and approved. Several items discussed in the workshop were placed on the consent agenda and approved at the meeting.
Dr. Burns also noted an executive session would follow the public meeting to discuss safety and bargaining, as previously announced; Chair adjourned the public meeting into executive session.
No protests or recorded roll-call tallies were given on the record; votes were taken orally with board members saying "Aye."
