Committee forwards VHSL membership applications for three high schools

The Frederick County School Board finance committee on June 15 voted to forward a motion authorizing three high schools to apply for Virginia High School League membership for the 2026–27 school year and to authorize the chair and superintendent to execute necessary documentation.
A presenter explained that VHSL membership permits sanctioned interscholastic athletics and activities, provides consistent eligibility and safety standards, and enables schools to compete in district, regional and state championships. The committee noted the membership fee for the year is $12,668.50 and that the cost is included in the division’s budget.
Committee member S2 moved to forward the authorization to the full board with a recommendation of approval; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
