The Village of Arcanum on April 14 voted to move funds to support planned road reclamite work.
Street & Service Committee Chair Eric VanHoose told council the committee reviewed costs to reclamite nine streets this year at an estimated total of approximately $45,500. To cover part of the cost, Council Member Eric VanHoose moved to transfer $17,000 from Street Miscellaneous to the Street Improvements line; Council Member David Hartley seconded the motion and all present council members voted yea.
During discussion the committee also reviewed proposed wording and enforcement for 'No Parking During Snow Removal' signage; the Village Administrator noted enforcement options include ticketing or towing for disobeying traffic control devices. Council tabled a request for a convex traffic mirror at W. Second and S. Main pending further review.
The council did not vote on the larger reclamite contract at the meeting; the funding transfer is intended to be applied toward the project if council later approves the contractor and scope.
