Orrville — The City Council adopted Resolution 31-24 on Oct. 7, authorizing the Board of Control to advertise for bids and enter into a contract for the East Hostetler concrete replacement and culvert/bridge repair project and declaring an emergency to expedite the work.
Safety Service Director Wheeler said the project is the final road project on the year's schedule and that the work is being timed to a specific week near Thanksgiving so as to accommodate nearby facilities (including Quality Castings and National Pattern). He noted that the project is budgeted in the capital program and that weather will determine the exact schedule.
Council members asked for the project's map location and whether the culvert/bridge work is in the same stretch; staff confirmed it is and said the roadway is currently in poor condition. The council then voted to proceed with the bidding and contract authorization.
Staff will prepare bid documents specifying a narrow construction window to reduce business disruption and will return with the bid results for contract award.
