Residents and local officials present qualifications for Planning Board vacancies; board moves to nonpublic session

Three residents addressed the Planning Board April 15 as candidates for vacancies.
Joe Byron (5 Lancaster Road) described nine years as a Windham resident and said the town's character and safety—including sidewalks—matter to him. He said he would need more information before supporting a proposed water line and expressed a desire to help the town even if not selected for the Planning Board.
DJ Withee (10 Kent Street) outlined experience on the local energy committee, recent service on the Windham Economic Development Committee (WEDC) until the prior week, prior work with the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission, and current service as a library trustee. He said communities that stay engaged tend to secure funding and said he has no conflicts that would prevent service.
Hussein Savichkin, a civil engineer, said he could assist with technical review of projects and stated he would support a water line proposal if appropriately justified; he noted occasional scheduling conflicts due to other municipal work.
After hearing candidates, Vice Chair Jack Gattinella moved to enter nonpublic session under RSA 91-A to discuss reputation matters and not return to open session; the motion passed 5-0.
