Michael J. Flood of Flood Brothers appeared at the Village of Robbins meeting on Jan. 11 to introduce the company’s residential collection service and answer residents’ questions about cans and pickup.
Flood described his family-owned firm, which he said has operated in the Chicagoland area for decades and announced that Flood Brothers is transitioning to provide service for Robbins. He said the company will send postcards to residents and a fuller packet outlining service details within one to two weeks.
During questions, Flood said the company generally rents carts for $3.75 per month so it can replace damaged units; residents who purchase cans assume responsibility for replacement. He said Flood Brothers will collect one bulk item per week at no additional charge and that drivers will leave a pink "Sorry" sticker when an item cannot be collected. Flood also noted that some village facilities — including the library, community center, public works, police departments and churches — have no-cost arrangements but need to notify the village; apartment service is limited to carts for up to two units.
The mayor and trustees did not record a formal vote on service terms at the meeting; Flood’s remarks were presented as an informational transition and Q&A. The village advised residents to contact the water and building departments with questions about missing totes or service issues so the departments can relay that information to Flood Brothers.
