Austintown trustees declare dozens of properties public nuisances, order abatement
Summary

The Austintown Township Board of Trustees adopted a nuisance resolution (Resolution #25-06-02-04) finding that numerous parcels in the township constitute public nuisances because of high grass and weeds, junk and debris stored in exposed areas, branches and stagnant water. The motion passed by unanimous roll call.
Under the resolution, property owners are ordered to abate, control or remove the listed nuisances within seven days; repeat violations within 12 months are subject to a four-day remedy period. If the township abates the nuisance, any expenses incurred (a $500 minimum per the resolution) will be entered on the tax duplicate as a lien on the property.
Separately, trustees declared three motor vehicles to be junk vehicles under Ohio Revised Code 505.871 and ordered removal within 14 days after notice. The vehicles were described as inoperable and extensively damaged at two properties on Crum Road and one on Meadow Lane (Resolution #25-06-02-05).
