AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Austintown Township Board of Trustees on March 3 authorized township officials to finalize agreements for a residential electrical aggregation program and reviewed plans to repave about six miles of township roads.
During the administrator’s report, trustees voted unanimously on Resolution #25-03-03-01 to authorize the administrator to execute any and all necessary agreements to proceed with the electrical aggregation program using broker Independent Energy Consultants. Trustee Bruce Shepas made the motion and Trustee Monica Deavers seconded; the roll-call vote was Shepas, yes; Deavers, yes; Santos, yes.
The board said the township’s current aggregation rate will be renewed in the coming month and that the authorization allows staff to complete contracting steps with the chosen broker. The administrator told trustees the change is procedural authorization to proceed with agreements; no new rate was announced at the meeting.
Trustees also opened bids for the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) Wickliffe/Nottingham/Woodhurst street resurfacing project and turned the bids over to the township engineer for processing. Officials said project awards will come at a later meeting. With Mahoning County’s 1/4% sales-tax program, the township expects to repave roughly six miles of road this year.
