Select Board elects Shari Cheney chair, approves planning and zoning appointments and routine policies

At the April 9 meeting the Castle Hill Select Board reorganized several governance items and approved routine appointments and policies. On a motion from Select Board member Maylen Kenney, the board nominated and elected Select Board member Shari Cheney as Board Chair for 2025; the motion and a subsequent motion to cease nominations each passed 3–0.
The board approved a slate of Planning Board appointments (Keith Draper 3-year, Jamie Bellanceau 3-year, Melissa Runshe 2-year, Allen Michaud (Alt) 2-year, Jay Lamoreau (Alt) 3-year) and Zoning Board of Appeals appointments (James Gardiner 3-year, Michael Runshe 2-year, Hayes Gahagan (Alt) 1-year) on motions by Maylen Kenney; both votes were 4–0. The Town Clerk presented nominations for election staff, and the board approved the election staff appointments with one recorded abstention.
On annual policy review, the board authorized Select Board members Shari Cheney and Ryan Spooner to sign weekly warrant disbursements pursuant to 30-A M.R.S.A. §5603 and approved the Tax Collector Payments Policy; motions passed 4–0. Town Manager Sandra Fournier distributed information about required FOAA training for newly elected and reelected members; those noted in the minutes to complete the training included Maylen Kenney, Herman Condon and Scott Cheney.
Code Enforcement Officer Aaron Whitaker gave an operational update: junk vehicles on State Road are being removed, owners of a dangerous building were given until June 1 to begin cleanup, and an additional subdivision application has been filed. The board recorded these updates in the minutes with no formal votes tied to those enforcement items.
