Fire and EMS levies pass with more than 80% support; council thanks voters and highlights Hometown Christmas

Village Administrator Francis told the council on Nov. 12 that voters in both the Village of Versailles and Wayne Township approved Fire and EMS levies on Nov. 4 with more than 80% support in each jurisdiction.
Council members and staff thanked residents for the strong turnout and support. Mr. Griesdorn said the Emergency Services Committee will be disbanded now that the levies passed. Mayor Todd M. Dammeyer and other council members publicly thanked voters and volunteers during the meeting.
Administrator Francis also reviewed the Hometown Christmas event held Nov. 7, calling it a ‘‘huge success’’ and crediting donations and volunteer support from the Versailles Area Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, groups and individuals. He named the event committee — Jackie Briscoe, Chris Lennon, Jodie Bohman and Tracy Deloye — and acknowledged a sizable donation from Kings Command Foods that helped the village purchase an inflatable Snow Globe attraction. Francis said additional adult volunteers will be needed for future years to sustain the event.
The council recorded a set of routine committee reports and closed the meeting at 8:17 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 24, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
