Town Board approves budget amendments, emergency water-main repair and contract award

The Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck on Sept. 18 authorized a series of administrative and procurement actions, including budget amendments to reflect unexpected grant money for sanitary-sewer projects, an emergency water-main replacement in Rye, approval of August fire claims and the award of a contract to install a generator at the highway yard.
Town Administrator Meredith explained the first capital amendment: additional grant money for sanitary sewer projects means previously bonded funds can be returned to the town's debt-service fund to pay down debt sooner. "We got additional grant money that we didn't expect, and we had already bonded some funds," Meredith said, explaining the rationale for the amendment.
Meredith also described an emergency water-main replacement on Trails End in Rye: a break requires replacing about 600 linear feet of asbestos-cement water main and temporarily supplying 10 impacted residences via connections to a nearby fire hydrant. The board authorized a budget amendment to fund the emergency work.
The board briefly sat as the Board of Fire Commissioners and approved August fire claims totaling $4,592.03; the largest single claim was $1,988.15 to repair Scott Air Packs. Jeff presented the claims and moved approval.
On procurement, the board awarded bid TA-2403 for installation of a generator at the highway yard to JT Orenzio General Contracting in the amount of $47,095 and authorized the town administrator to execute related documents. The bid came in below budget, Meredith said.
The board also approved the minutes of Aug. 14 and Sept. 4, 2024. All motions described at the meeting were approved on roll call.
