Vanlue Council approves tilapia purchase to control lagoon algae; treatment vendor previously budgeted

Council voted 5–0 to purchase Blue Tilapia from Remlinger Fish Farm for $1,705.50 after Village Administrator Leo Hendricks and staff presented the quote and described expected algae-control benefits. Bridget Shepherd moved the motion; Amy Wiseley seconded.
Council also noted a separate vendor quote of $11,033 for chemical treatment of all three lagoons; that treatment was included in the 2025 budget and was previously approved by council, according to the minutes. Administrator Hendricks said lagoon treatment is typically done every three to four years and was last completed in 2022.
The minutes record the purchase and the council’s vote; the administrator and public-works staff will schedule stocking and treatment in spring, subject to weather and vendor availability.
