Village Administrator Matthew Nihiser presented options for streetlight standards for the Liberty Ridge development at the Dec. 8 meeting, noting the village lacks codified standards for what fixtures it will accept and that consultant V3 had identified fixtures AEP would support.
Councilmember Rick Foreman questioned whether the proposal applied to Liberty Ridge specifically and whether other developers would be expected to follow the same approach. Nihiser said that V3 had looked into options AEP would support and described a shielded fixture that would direct light outward and downward rather than illuminating around the full fixture. He also presented a solar option as a possibility.
Councilmember Brandy McCreery urged staff to research additional options rather than adopt a standard quickly; she asked the VA to follow up with V3 for more alternatives. Developer and property owner Jim Cotugno described different issues he has seen with solar lights in other developments.
No ordinance or formal vote to adopt a new standard was recorded at the meeting; council discussion concluded with direction to seek additional options.
