Castine selectmen approve two warrants totaling $21,577.97 and adjourn

Gordon MacArthur, chair of the Town of Castine Selectmen/Assessors & Overseer of the Poor, opened the meeting at 9:03 a.m. on Aug. 12, 2024, and the board approved two warrants for routine payments and then adjourned at 9:07 a.m.
The board voted 3-0 to approve a General Fund warrant of $21,123.79 after a motion from Gordon MacArthur and a second from Roberta Boczkiewicz. Roberta Boczkiewicz noted the warrant covered 44 separate bills, including payment to the town auditor, electric bills, the monthly sheriff's bill and chemicals.
Selectman Dan Leader then moved to approve the Water warrant for $454.18; MacArthur seconded and the board approved the motion 3-0. Susan Macomber, the town clerk, said the warrants were brought to the board that morning because Finance Officer Karen Motycka was taking time off; additional warrants will be presented at the Aug. 19, 2024 selectboard meeting so some payments can be mailed sooner and to reduce the town clerk's workload while the finance officer is out.
After approving the warrants the board moved into a work session. Roberta Boczkiewicz moved to adjourn the meeting; Dan Leader seconded, and the adjournment passed 3-0. The meeting was recorded as ending at 9:07 a.m.
