Pleasantville mayor says ARPA-funded water tower will be rebid; funding must be used this year

Mayor Henderson said a bonding company asked the village to rebid the remaining portion of work and that the contract’s remaining balance is roughly $200,000. The mayor told council that if bids come in under the remaining contract balance the bond would cover them; if bids exceed the balance the bonding company would be responsible for the excess.
Why it matters: The mayor said the village’s ARPA funding cannot be carried into the next fiscal year and will expire at the end of the year; for that reason the council set an internal target that the work be completed by September. “If you can’t get it done by September, you’re not getting the job,” the mayor said during the meeting, urging a firm timetable for rebids and contractor selection.
Councilors heard that rebidding may be constrained by the industry schedule for tank manufacturers and repair firms, which commonly book work many months in advance. The administration said engineers will prepare a bid packet with a September‑completion stipulation and that they will seek at least three bids.
