Barberton City Council met in regular session on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, and adopted its consent agenda, approving a set of ordinances and resolutions presented by council members without public comment or debate.
The consent agenda included Ordinance No. 1–2026, which authorizes the submission of a grant application to the Barberton Community Foundation for up to $25,000 to support the city’s America 250 / Barberton 135 celebration in 2026; three commendation resolutions honoring former council members Thomas “Bebe” Heitic (Resolution No. 2–2026), Tayler Thompson (Resolution No. 3–2026), and former Council President Justin Greer (Resolution No. 4–2026); Ordinance No. 5-2025, which authorizes the mayor or his designee to purchase a stormwater IBAK camera and accessories from Brown Equipment Company for $113,500; and Ordinance No. 6-2025, which amends an existing contract with Fechko Excavating by adding $206,083.57 in additional funding, bringing the contract total to $5,047,474.49 to cover change orders.
Ms. Gearhart moved to suspend the rule required by Section 5.10 of the Barberton City Charter so the measures could be enacted immediately; Mr. Stoll seconded the motion to suspend. Ms. Gearhart then moved that the ordinances and resolutions on the consent agenda be adopted; Mr. Stoll seconded. The record shows all members present voted in favor of the motions; the meeting minutes state that “All Members present voted ‘Aye.’”
