Waynesboro fire chief asks Quincy supervisors to restore borough to response box cards

Waynesboro Borough’s fire chief asked Quincy Township to reinstate Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department on some box cards so the closest response units are dispatched; the board agreed to review the proposed changes and forward them to the township EMC.
Chad Miller, identified in the minutes as Fire Chief, asked the board to put the Waynesboro (Borough) Fire Department back on several Quincy Township box cards where it had been removed, arguing the borough sometimes provides the closest immediate response.
Miller said he "did not know all of the details, but he was here for the residents and just wanted to use common sense to be sure the closest firehouses were listed on the box cards," and gave the example that in some locations Waynesboro is closer by several miles than Blue Ridge Summit. The supervisors agreed to review Miller’s changes and to present them to Emergency Management Coordinator Joel Oyler for further review.
Chairman Peck also said he would hand the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department box cards to EMC Oyler for review; no vote or formal change to the township’s box-card policy was recorded.
