Castine residents, harbormaster debate food‑truck placement; ribbon cutting planned for Adams School playground

What residents said: Liz Parish praised the many donations and fundraising efforts that contributed to the playground in addition to Town funding. Resident David Adams said the food truck’s location on the Town Dock had blocked views in front of the Acadia Dock and suggested the location was inappropriate. Don Tenney asked that Madockawando be labeled 'Road' rather than 'Street' on new signage.
What officials said: Harbormaster Scott Vogell said much of the waterfront feedback favored keeping the area open and that temporary blue tents used this summer were popular for shade. Chair Gordon MacArthur and Selectboard members said they would consider alternative gazebo designs in future plans but that any new waterfront structure would likely wait until next year.
What’s next: the Adams School ribbon cutting is scheduled for Sept. 6; the Selectboard will continue to receive public feedback on harbor-front use and will consider design choices for any replacement gazebo in a future session.
