Castle Hill Select Board unanimously approves foreclosure waiver for State Road property, sets nomination dates

The Castle Hill Select Board unanimously authorized the town tax collector to submit a waiver of automatic foreclosure for a property at 2079 State Road, voting 5-0 at a meeting Wednesday evening at the Town Office.

The waiver recommendation concerned one of three properties facing automatic foreclosure for unpaid 2023 taxes; the town’s Tax Collector recommended a waiver to avoid acquiring property that could be burdensome for the municipality. The board also handled routine business, approving Oct. 22 minutes and Treasurer Warrants #81–90, and set dates for nomination papers and upcoming meetings.

Motion and vote details: the board approved the minutes of the Oct. 22, 2025 Select Board meeting on a motion by Select Board member Scott Cheney, seconded by Herman Condon; the motion passed 5-0. The board approved Treasurer Warrants #81–90 on a motion by Select Board member Maylen Kenney, seconded by Scott Cheney; the motion passed 5-0. On a motion by Kenney and a second by Scott Cheney, the board voted 5-0 to authorize the Tax Collector to submit a waiver of foreclosure for Account 2033 (2079 State Road).

During old business, Select Board member Maylen Kenney asked when the new taps maps would be completed. Town Manager Sandra Fournier said the maps would be ready by the end of November 2025.

The board reviewed open local terms: Ryan Spooner’s Select Board seat and Maylen Kenney’s Assessor seat are up for three-year terms. Nomination papers will be available Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, and must be returned by Friday, Jan. 16, 2026. The board also scheduled a joint Select Board meeting for Nov. 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM, the regular Select Board meeting for Dec. 10, 2025 at 7:00 PM, and a joint meeting Dec. 16, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
