Castle Hill Select Board authorizes Haley Ward to update tax maps, move to GIS format

Town Manager Sandra Fournier and the town’s assessor agent told the board the tax maps have not been updated since 2016 and that $25,000 is allocated in the Assessing Reserve for the project. The lowest quote for all three communities was $23,250 from Haley Ward; the proposal includes updating tax cards and valuation information on the town website to assist realtors and potential buyers.
Maylen Kenney moved to authorize the town manager to proceed with Haley Ward; Herman Condon seconded the motion, which passed 3-0. The motion includes ratification at a forthcoming joint board meeting.
Officials said the GIS upgrade is designed to make parcel data more accessible to the public and to real estate professionals, and that revised maps will reflect changes to parcels since 2016. The board did not change tax policy or adopt additional appropriations at the meeting; the funding source for the work is the existing Assessing Reserve.
