Audubon caucus: budget check, seasonal hiring, election reminders and public-safety notices

Borough officials used the Oct. 4 caucus meeting to review year-end budget monitoring, staffing needs and community notices.
Borough Administrator and DPW superintendent David Taraschi told commissioners the 2022 budget is being monitored as the year closes and said the borough is hiring seasonal workers for the Department of Public Works to work through December; interested applicants were directed to Borough Hall. Chief Finance Officer and the tax collector reported no items. Borough Clerk Bonnie Taft reminded residents that Election Day is Nov. 8, that mail-in ballots have been distributed and that a ballot drop box is open.
Police Chief Tom Tassi warned residents to watch for catalytic converter thefts and asked anyone with information to call 911. Fire Chief Pat Slemmer noted a Fire Prevention event scheduled for Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. Solicitors reported they are working on a cell tower lease and said potential lessees may attend the November meeting to discuss terms. The minutes also note a Sustainable Jersey meeting scheduled for Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
Commissioner Whitman circulated forms for the New Jersey ANCHOR benefit, thanked public-safety staff for their work, and asked about plans for the Recreation Center to be used as an evacuation site; Administrator Taraschi said he is arranging a key box for the building’s side entrance. The minutes record a number of holiday and community-event items from the mayor, including leaf pickup season, a Lions Club parade and trick-or-treat arrangements for late October.
The caucus opened the public comment portion but closed it immediately after no members of the public spoke. The meeting adjourned at 5:28 p.m.
