The Vanlue Village Council on Oct. 28 approved multiple financial and administrative motions, including reinvesting two maturing certificates of deposit and authorizing advertisements for a new well-field farming contract.
A motion by Ann Burrell, seconded by Jeri Wenger, approved reinvesting $100,000 of each of two Premiere Bank CDs and to deposit interest into the general fund; the motion passed 6-0. The council also voted 6-0 to accept an additional 1% income-tax collection arrangement from the City of Findlay, following a motion by Becky Nye and seconded by Melissa Caudill.
The council voted 6-0 to advertise for sealed bids for the well-field farming contract that expires Dec. 31, 2024. Melinda Boyd, fiscal officer, had previously noted the contract expiration and the need to solicit sealed bids.
Council authorized sale by bid of obsolete equipment — including a 1953 Farmall tractor, a 1998 backhoe and an 8-foot flail mower, plus two interior wood doors — with proceeds to be deposited in the capital fund. The motion to accept the sale plan was made by Ann Burrell and seconded by Bridget Shepherd and passed 6-0.
Earlier in the meeting, council approved routine minutes, accepted the meeting agenda and approved financial reports and bank reconciliations. The meeting adjourned at 8:16 p.m. after a motion by Melissa Caudill, seconded by Amy Wiseley; the adjournment motion was recorded as passed 5-0.
