Vanlue approves $8,680 payment for sidewalk work, completes OPWC paving and moves $20,000 to street fund

The Village of Vanlue Council on Sept. 23 approved payment for completed sidewalk work, acknowledged completion of the village’s 2024 OPWC paving, and moved budget dollars to support upcoming street projects.
Council recorded that contractor Jerry Shane completed sidewalk work on 10 properties and presented a bill of $8,680.00. The village issued a manual check while the fiscal officer was on vacation; council voted to approve the payment 5‑0.
Administrator Leo Hendricks reported that 2024 OPWC paving was completed Aug. 28–29 for Center Street, South Main Cross, the west end of Railroad Lane and portions of Catawba, Buckeye and Deer Lanes on the village’s west end. Hendricks also said the village is evaluating options for a replacement mower and will seek possible trade‑in opportunities; equipment valued under $1,000 may be sold by sealed bid.
Fiscal Officer Melinda Boyd reported a transfer of $20,000 from the General Fund to the Street Fund to support paving projects. The council approved the payment to the sidewalk contractor, the transfer and recorded the paving completion as part of routine village operations.
