Safety Committee hears update that safety building construction will begin; approves minutes

The Safety Committee met Nov. 24, 2025, and approved two sets of meeting minutes while receiving updates on online payments and the timeline for a new safety building.
Chair Brandy McCreery moved to amend and approve the Sept. 22, 2025 minutes; Gar Phillips seconded and the motion passed 2-0 with Darla Reedy recorded as abstaining. Reedy later moved to approve the Oct. 27, 2025 minutes; McCreery seconded and that motion passed 2-0 with Phillips abstaining.
Village Administrator Matthew Nihiser reported the village is "working with SafeBuilt and Municipay to get online payments," a step officials said is intended to expand payment options for residents. Police Chief Bret Rogers told the committee that one officer has transitioned to part-time status and that construction on the new safety building is scheduled to begin next week.
The committee reviewed its 2025 goals for workplace safety, noting the minutes list two workplace accidents to date and zero fatal accidents. Visitors Ron Bibler, John Daft and Steve Kenney were recorded as attending but offered no comments.
With no further business, Gar Phillips moved to adjourn; Darla Reedy seconded. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote and the meeting ended at 6:38 p.m. The committee set its next regular meeting for Dec. 22, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. or immediately following the Service Committee meeting.
