The Wyoming Workforce Development Council approved the January meeting minutes by voice vote after Ron Wilds moved and Nikki Harper seconded the motion. Acting Chair Eric Trobridge confirmed a quorum and briefed members on logistics for the Evanston meeting.
Liz Gagan, who identified herself as the new director of the Department of Workforce Services and said she started in the role on March 17, 2024, delivered her first Council remarks and described a vision that places workforce planning “early and often” in economic projects. “My vision for Workforce is the reality of the workforce,” Gagan said, adding that the department is participating in multi‑state and federal grant efforts.
Gagan highlighted partnerships with neighboring states and research agencies as evidence the agency is being invited to planning tables earlier than in the past. Council members responded positively; one member noted that AI, quantum computing and nuclear projects will “change dramatically” the state’s workforce needs over the next decade.
The meeting proceeded with a scheduled program of presentations and a field trip, and the Council recessed to tour local businesses and resume the agenda the following morning.
