A staff member (speaker 6) told council the city’s current depository did not respond to the RFP and that Huntington offered competitive pricing, technology and fraud protection. The staff member said the city already has an established relationship with Huntington and asked the council to approve the designation prior to year‑end to allow staff time to complete the transition. Asked when the transition would take place, the staff member responded, "Between now and February 28," explaining the need to move funds, resolve outstanding checks and complete operational steps.
Separately, the council adopted Resolution 50‑24, a year‑end housekeeping appropriation that staff said reduces appropriations by about $131,500 so revenue and appropriations align and to account for an OPWC asphalt resurfacing project in the proper fund. The staff presenter said the change ensures anticipated revenues match appropriations and that some grant funds no longer require the previously assigned appropriation.
Both measures were adopted after motions to suspend the three‑reading rule and passed by roll call.
