North Baltimore council approves multiple personnel changes, including dispatcher supervisor hire

The Village of North Baltimore approved several personnel actions during its Jan. 14 meeting. Council adopted the Code Enforcement Officer job description and authorized advertising for the position. Council adopted an amended Police Officer job description as well.
On a motion by Dee Hefner (seconded by Tim Engard), the council adopted a Dispatch Supervisor job description and approved hiring Denise Shupe — a longtime dispatcher — as Dispatch Supervisor for a six-month trial at a rate $1.50 per hour higher than her current pay, effective the next pay period. The motion passed with all six council members present voting in favor.
Council also approved hiring Jesus Rocha for a full-time Public Works laborer position at $17.00 per hour with a start date of Jan. 21, 2025 (motion by Tim Engard). The Finance Officer reported that Financial Clerk Kylie Maraches’s new rate of pay is $17.00 per hour and Mayor Patterson requested that the village pay for the Financial Clerk’s Mayor's Court training (approximately $150 plus lodging); council did not record separate vote detail for the training authorization.
These personnel approvals add capacity in dispatch and public works and update job descriptions for enforcement and police staff. The Code Enforcement Officer posting is expected to be advertised following the meeting.
