North Baltimore council assigns standing committees, elects Dee Hefner as council president

The Village of North Baltimore council reorganized its standing committees and unanimously elected Dee Hefner as Council President during its Jan. 14, 2025 meeting. Mayor Aaron Patterson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and recorded the roll call showing the mayor and six council members present.
Council assigned chairs and members for six standing committees: Economic and Community Development (Bill Cook, chair; Tim Engard and Dee Hefner), Public Safety (Dee Hefner, chair; Mike Soltis and Paula Beaupry), Personnel/Policy and Ordinance Review (Dave Richmond, chair; Bill Cook and Dee Hefner), Public Works (Paula Beaupry, chair; Bill Cook and Dave Richmond), Public Utilities (Mike Soltis, chair; Dave Richmond and Tim Engard), and Finance and Technology (Tim Engard, chair; Paula Beaupry and Mike Soltis). A motion to adopt the standing committees was made by Bill Cook, seconded by Mike Soltis, and approved by the six council members present.
Bill Cook nominated Dee Hefner as Council President. A motion by Mr. Cook to elect Ms. Hefner (seconded by Mr. Soltis) passed with unanimous approval among the council members in attendance. The council later proceeded to routine business including approval of prior meeting minutes and administrative reports.
The reorganization takes effect immediately; council committee chairs will convene as scheduled for committee business. No dissenting votes were recorded at the meeting.
