Trenton council unanimously approves two municipal code amendments, OKs $182,110.90 in monthly expenditures

The Trenton City Council on July 9 unanimously passed second readings of two ordinances and approved monthly city expenditures totaling $182,110.90.
Ordinance #351, described by the council as an amendment to the city code to adopt the State rulemaking standards to the 2018 International Residential Code for energy conservation, passed on second reading after a motion from Alderman Wade and a second from Alderman Harper. A roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from Aldermen Graves, Wade and Harper and Alderwomen Holt, Jones and Elam.
The council also passed Ordinance #352 on second reading, amending Chapter 1, Section 17-105 of the Trenton Municipal Code concerning trash containers. Alderwoman Jones moved the measure, Alderwoman Holt seconded it, and the full council voted yes on the roll call.
Earlier in the meeting Recorder Leigh Reynolds presented the monthly expenditures. Alderman Graves moved to approve, Alderwoman Elam seconded, and the council approved the expenditures by voice vote: general fund $164,673.70 and sanitation $17,437.20, for a total of $182,110.90. The council had also approved the minutes of the June 25 meeting on a motion by Alderman Wade and a second from Alderwoman Jones.
The council voted by voice to cancel the July 23 meeting because the mayor and several council members will attend the Tennessee Municipal League conference in Knoxville.
The meeting adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
